Marriage Counseling and the 5 Love Languages
Dr. Gary Chapman wrote a book many years ago on the 5 Love Languages, and it is basically a tool to identify how a person feels loved in a relationship. He says there are five basic types of loving behaviors, and each person will prefer one type of loving behavior more than the other types of loving behaviors. He identifies the five types of loving behaviors as:
- Words of Affirmation
- Quality Time
- Receiving Gifts
- Acts of Service
- Physical Touch
He provides a good assessment to identify your dominant Love Language. This is a very useful tool to assist a couple to learn how to express love to their partner in a way that the partner will be most receptive. In the process of Marriage Counseling, I like to use this tool when the couple is working on creating a positive momentum. This tool is very useful even if you are not going to Marriage Counseling. If you would like to take your own assessment of your dominant love language, you can do this free of charge at http://www.5lovelanguages.com/profile/. Give it a try, and enrich your relationship.
